Why do I have single touch functionality when I successfully installed the N-trig true multi-touch bundle?

In Windows 7, one of the things that you have to check after successfully installing the N-trig bundle, is that the Tablet PC Components checkbox (in Windows Features) is selected.

In order to verify this, navigate to Control Panel => Programs and Features. In the Programs and Features window, click the Turn Windows Features On/Off link, located in the left sidebar, as displayed in the image below. Tablet PC Components

Hands-on Hints
More Hints
Certain industry-standard applications such as Photoshop can Painter cannot register pressure of the pen.

This problem appears to be related to the WinTab API not being able to communicate properly with the digitizer output.

Our solution for issues related to the pressure sensitivity and the WinTab API are currently under development and is due to be released in mid-May 2010. If possible we may post Beta versions for testing earlier.

At start-up, the digitizer and/or driver will fail to initialize with various error messages.

At start-up, the digitizer and/or driver will fail to initialize with these error messages:

"Can't Connect to Driver"

"N-trig Applet has Encountered a Problem and Must be Shut Down"

"Digitizer Not Found"

The issue described here is usually as a result of a USB communication error, and is generally fixable with a full shut down/power-up procedure. This was root caused two years ago to be a fault of the 3rd party software that ships with iTunes. While N-trig made some improvements to avoid system hang ups this issue can also be observed on standard non N-trig platforms with both Windows and iTunes installed.

Touch input will randomly cease to function with no warning/error.

This problem occurs within the first 10 minutes to 1 hour after boot. Input reset does not solve the issue, but a reboot or wake from sleep does.

This is one of the things addressed and greatly improved upon in the latest bundle (2.239) to be released by N-trig – the Dell version of which has been released, and the HP version is due to be released by the end of February, pending HP’s approval.
